my long list of excuses

Want to hear my list of excuses for why I haven't updated my blog?
Thought so.

Excuse #1: I went to Michigan for 6 days, and it pretty much wreaked havoc on my day-to-day schedule. I have gotten into the vicious cycle of taking naps during the day and then not being tired at night, so then I don't get enough sleep and then I'm tired and need to take another nap the next day. Ugh.

But Michigan...it was great. Besides the whole "Planes, Trains and Automobiles"-let's-take-24-hours-to-get-home debacle. Don't even get me started on that. But I was in my cousin's wedding, had a blast dancing the night away with some of my younger cousins. I got to see family and friends. Travel around the ever-glorious Grand Rapids, which will forever hold my heart. I chopped my hair off. I bought a fantastic new-to-me vintage dress. And I ended the trip with a nice long motorcycle ride with all 4 of my parents :)

And as great as it was, being home was also so terrible. I knew I was homesick, but being home made it that much worse. When I left my best friend, Katie, I was literally sobbing in my car. Thankfully I had to sit in a long line of traffic before actually driving. But still, I'm sure the people next to me didn't know what to think.
Yeah, we're pretty much exact opposites

Excuse #2: Pete's Famous Pizza owns my life.

'Member how I only work around 25 hours a week and get my weekends off? Yeah...not so much anymore. Apparently since I live so close, I'm the go-to girl when the restaurant needs another person. I was called in on every. single. one. of my days off last week. It was terrible. I have accomplished nothing. Except growing a hatred for that dang place.
[Have I not mentioned that I got a job? Probably because I'm ashamed that I'm working at a pizza place. It's funny (read: humiliating)...you go to college, waste SO MUCH money, SO MUCH time just so you can do exactly what you did in high school for minimum wage. Fantastic.]

Excuse #3: See this beautiful stack of fabrics?

Well, I'm working on making those into an adorable quilt [that I might want to keep for myself] for my future niece/nephew (who is now really overdue. But I kind of appreciate the lateness, cause it gives me a little more time to get this quilt done.)

Excuse #4: We're moving!! This really shouldn't be a valid excuse, because you know what? I have done absolutely nothing to prep for this move so far (see excuses 1, 2, and 3 above) except reserve a U-Haul for the day. Go me. Oh, and look for stuff to decorate the place with. Duh.
But I will be packing stuff up starting tonight errSaturday..
And you know what else? Our new place...evenly painted walls. A bathroom that I don't have to wear shoes in. Non-disease ridden carpet. Baseboards that are actually attached to something. BUG-FREAKIN-FREE.
I cannot wait.
And bonus. My one friend here, lives 7 floors above us. Hey girl!

Excuse #5: I've been pretty into my most recent read. Like really into. I actually had to stop reading the other night because I was going to cry. I have never cried while reading. Who does that? Well, besides my mom, who read the ending to "Where the Red Fern Grows" to me when I was in 4th Grade because I was sick of reading. And I then I couldn't even understand her because she was sobbing so much. Uh, thanks but no thanks.

I'm reading the last book in the Hunger Games series, "Mockingjay". Which is pretty much going to be the next teenage girl craze, post Twilight fever. And I'm pretty sure Claire's will be selling "Team Peeta" and "Team Gale" shirts (I still can't decide who I like better. Oh by the way, I'm pathetic.)
But that's okay, I read for entertainment, not for smarts.

So there you have it.
Sorry it's been so long!
